Library Volunteers

Aberdeenshire Libraries would like you to get in touch if you have some free time to volunteer in a number of roles. The time commitment is a minimum of an hour a week. We are looking for motivated individuals with good communication and organisational skills who are able to interact with people all ages. You will also have an interest in one or more of the following areas:

• Coding (Scratch, Python, CSS and HTML)
• 3D printing
• Basic ICT skills
• Storytelling
• Craft sessions
• BBC Micro:Bit
• Constructive play with LEGO
• Research about your local area
• Delivering books to housebound library users

What can you get involved with?

We have a number of ways for you to get involved with Aberdeenshire Libraries and the specific library volunteer roles we have on offer are:

• ICT Volunteer
• LEGO Library Volunteer
• Local Studies Volunteer

What support will I get?

You will be working within a branch library in Aberdeenshire under the direction of a Senior Library Assistant and will be fully supported in your role. You will receive induction training as well as any specific training required for your role. This would be an excellent opportunity for someone who is looking to work within libraries or has an interest or skill they would like to pass on to others.
