ROV Challenge

For 4 years, our Technical department have run a senior school team to take part in the ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle) MATE (Marine Advanced Technology Education) competition. Pupils work in a small group with a mentor from industry to build an underwater ROV to operate under set conditions to perform a series of tasks. This exciting competition gives pupils an insight into the ROV industry, and teaches those involved to problem solve in real-life Engineering contexts.

We have previously won the competition, allowing our team of budding Engineers to fly to Canada to take part in the International final. This was a great opportunity for our pupils, many
of whom are now doing Engineering degrees at University or Apprenticeship in various Engineering disciplines. The commitment and dedication that has been shown by these pupils over the years is out of this world!
