Young Enterprise

Peterhead Academy has been involved in Young Enterprise for 6 years with a total of 9 teams in that time.  For the past 3 years we have reached the final 6 – over 30 schools participate – and have achieved an award each year – Best Presented Team twice and Managing Director of the Year.  This has led to pupil visits with Jimmy Milne CEO of Balmoral Group, team-building sessions with Brewdog and weekly support from px ltd and Johnston Carmichael, our Business Advisors.  Pupils learn fantastic transferable business and life skills and many school links and pupil job opportunities have been developed.

Young Enterprise is part of the Academy’s wider achievement programme and is timetabled for a weekly double period.  This session we have 19 pupils involved.  They will all achieve a Young Enterprise certificate of participation and will sit the Strathclyde University Business exam in February, allowing for accreditation for their CV’s.  We have had Heavenly Hampers (clue is in the name), Beadazzled (bracelets), Simple chefs (recipe book), Candolls (striped fragranced candles), Matters Arising (Mats and diffusers), Foto Alba (local pictures made into jigsaws, Just Coastin’ (local images in coasters) and Simply Framed (pictures made of buttons)……..enterprise rocks in the Bloo Toon!
