Head Teacher, Monymusk Primary School

Monymusk is a small school with a very big heart. It is nestled in the countryside at the foot of Bennachie and is located at the edge of Monymusk Village. Monymusk is an idyllic village with a strong and family-friendly community which has access to the larger neighbouring towns of Kemnay, Inverurie and Alford, all providing good links to Aberdeen City.

Our experienced team of practitioners are committed to supporting our young people through nurturing approaches and their dedication to building successful relationships. All staff deliver high quality learning experiences for all, ensuring all needs are met and pupils feel included. The young people of Monymusk benefit from a wide range of teacher skills and take part in a variety of engaging lessons, extra-curricular activities and an extensive outdoor learning program which successfully utilises the surrounding area. Strong community links allow the school community to connect with a range of stakeholders including local businesses, the church and the local pre-school setting.

We pride ourselves on our active Pupil Voice groups which are used to drive change and make a positive impact on improving outcomes for our young people. The children at Monymusk fully embrace a vast array of leadership opportunities and contribute to the caring and inclusive ethos which has our school values at the heart. We have an active pupil council, Eco Group, Save the Animals Group and are working towards our Silver Award in Rights Respecting Schools.

Our school community benefits from a very supportive Parent Council. Recently, grants have been successful, and all money has been utilised to benefit the learning and teaching of the pupils with a replenishment and upgrade of outdoor learning equipment, improvements to school grounds and enhancing our school reading books and library. Our parent council committee continues to support the school in many capacities and is a valuable asset to the school.
