Aberdeenshire Council Fleet Mechanics

 

Aberdeenshire Council’s Fleet Services are looking to recruit a number of qualified and experienced vehicle mechanics/technicians at its Harlaw Road Repair Depot in Inverurie. Our Fleet Services Team have a varied role and are responsible for the supply, maintenance and compliance of Aberdeenshire’s fleet of vehicles, plant and equipment.

 

 

With over 800 vehicles and 1500 items of plant our fleet is large and varied consisting of cars, light commercial vehicles and minibuses, heavy commercial vehicles, quarry equipment such as slew diggers and dumpers along with loading shovels and telehandlers. Smaller plant items such as mowers, trailers and mini tractors add to the variety of work you can expect. As an experienced mechanic/technician you will have the ability to turn your hand to servicing and maintaining everything from the largest vehicle to the smaller vans and plant. Working alongside the existing team you will play a key role in maintaining our fleet to the highest standards, diagnosing faults and ensuring a high level of vehicle availability.

As we transition to a zero emission fleet with BEV (Battery Electric Vehicles) and FCEV (Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles) valuable training opportunities will be available allowing you to learn new skills and experience in these new technologies.

 

Working Week

The working week for our Mechanics is 37 hours, 4 days a week over Monday to Friday, with a rolling day off, giving you a great work life balance.

You will be required to be on standby approximately 4 weeks of the year, occasional overtime is available if workload requires offering a potential salary enhancement, this not guaranteed or compulsory.

All Mechanics are provided with a full set of tools required to undertake all duties and Aberdeenshire work overalls.

There is an essential requirement for applicants to hold a driving licence as you will be required to drive Aberdeenshire Council vehicles, LGV Licence is preferred but not essential.
