Additional Guidance for Microsoft Teams Interviews
Introduction
Given calls for social distancing in the current situation, your next interview with us will be via Microsoft Teams (MS Teams). Here are some tips that will help us prepare.
Interview invite
You will receive an email inviting you to book a MS Teams interview slot, please click the link at the bottom of the email to select your preferred interview time. You will receive a confirmation email of the interview time selected. You will then receive a further email from the chair of the interview panel inviting you to join a MS Teams meeting for your interview.
Technology
At least a couple of days before the interview, do a technical trial run to make sure your equipment is working correctly. Check your device’s camera, microphone and internet connection are working. Do a trial run with a friend or family member, if possible, so you have ample time to adjust if any of your equipment is malfunctioning.
It is recommended you try to join the meeting prior to your interview slot to ensure everything is working.
Fully Charged?
Make sure your device is fully charged on the day of interview. Try to pick a spot where Wi-Fi has a strong signal. If you’re using a tablet find somewhere to keep it stationary, otherwise it may appear to shake if you’re holding it.
Dress code
Dress as you would for an in person interview. Doing so, will give you more confidence.
Location, Location, Location
Choose a location that’s free from distraction of children, roommates or pets. Turn off email alerts and other notifications that may be a distraction.
Eye contact and body language (if video interview)
Log in ahead of the interview. Try to maintain good eye contact by looking directly into the camera instead of the screen. Make sure your face is in the centre of the screen and try not to move around too quickly.
Volume
Check your volume controls and speak clearly so the microphone picks up your voice.
Reasonable Adjustments
Please contact the recruiting manager if you would like to discuss reasonable adjustments or specific arrangements you may need in order to attend. The contact details of your recruiting manager will be included in the email you receive inviting you to interview.
