Awards and Accreditations

We are proud to have the following awards and accreditations.  We believe the time invested and work undertaken to attain these has been of great value and has helped to embed an inclusive culture across our organisation.

Disability Confident Scheme – Employer Accreditation

Aberdeenshire Council is an accredited member of the Disability Confident Scheme.  We have achieved the level of Disability Confident Employer.  This was awarded by Jobcentre Plus in recognition of our commitment to the employment, retention, training and career development of employees with disabilities.

Carer Positive Employer in Scotland – Established Employer Accreditation

In Scotland the Carer Positive award is given to employers who demonstrate carers are valued and supported within the work place.  Aberdeenshire Council has achieved the second level of Carer Positive award as an Established Employer.  Among other elements, this award indicates a culture of support is embedded within Aberdeenshire Council, to the extent that carers feel comfortable identifying themselves and in accessing available support from both inside and outside the organisation.

Defence Employer Recognition Scheme – Gold Award Holder

As a Gold Award holder we seek to promote an Armed Forces friendly position.  We are open to employing Reservists and supporting their training and mobilisation commitments.  We have demonstrated this in may ways including: proactively demonstrating our forces-friendly credentials as part of our recruitment and selection processes, actively ensuring our workforce is aware of the positive policies we have towards defence people issues and, advocating support to Defence People issues to partner organisations, suppliers and customers with tangible positive results.

Scotland Works for You

Aberdeenshire Council supports the principles of Scotland Works for You.

The aim of initiative is to secure opportunities for people with convictions to help them lead positive, healthy lives that contribute to society.  It also aims to reduce both the stigma of having a conviction and the barriers to integration, through employment and education for individuals with convictions.

Healthy Working Lives

This programme helps organisations identify issues while improving health, safety and wellbeing in a structured and productive way.

The gold award demonstrates we have a long-term commitment to improving health, safety and wellbeing both within the workplace and in the wider community.  A health, safety and wellbeing culture exists within our organisation and positive employee behaviour changes are evident.
