CSA-Testimonials

“I have been in my current role for 7 months and completed more than half my training which takes approximately 1 year altogether, one service at a time.

Being a Customer Service Advisor requires me to be positive, organised, flexible and multiskilled.  I am first point of contact for customers, providing advice and resolving a wide range of queries. A typical day includes Council Tax, Blue Badges, Entitlement Cards, General Enquiries and Waste. Some queries can be complex, others such as card payments are straight-forward. It gives me great job satisfaction when my customers leave happy.

I am based in the Banff hub, and my day varies between answering telephone calls, serving customers face-to-face, and answering emails and webchats. I need to prioritise my work to make sure all queries are completed and recorded correctly.  I have regular meetings with my Line manager to receive feedback and discuss how my actions contribute to the success of the team.

As there are several hubs across Aberdeenshire, we do work unsupervised some days, but there is support from advisors I’m working with, with Supervisors and Training Officers answering any questions on Teams.  We use multiple systems in Customer Services, so my IT skills have increased, switching from one system to another.”

“The attraction of the advisor role for me was the Monday to Friday 9-5.  A lot of my commitments are out with these times and the role suited me better than my previous one which included evening and weekends. I really enjoy helping people and it gives me great satisfaction that I’ve been able to do something for

someone. The relief when I’ve been able to sort out someone’s blue badge or NEC when they don’t know where to start for example.”

“My name is Suzanne and I have been working as a Customer Service Advisor for almost a year now. What I love about my job is that no two days are ever the same – I can be found in the Service Point, in the back office or sometimes even working from home. The work is extremely rewarding and I very much enjoy being able to help people. I deal with a large variety of enquiries which keeps the work interesting and I enjoy meeting the challenges and being able to solve problems.

I think for this role, you need to be a patient person with a high attention to detail. You need to be a good listener and learn how to extract the information you need to help your customer. A flexible and positive approach is essential and you need to enjoy learning new things. The training is excellent and leaves you feeling confident in your role. There is lots of support from management and colleagues alike, and we are a lovely friendly team in Customer Services. If you are thinking of applying, I say to just go for it!”
