Director of Education and Children’s Services


As a strong and inspirational leader, the Director of Education & Children’s Services is required to provide leadership, vision and strategic direction to the Council and Education & Children’s Services, in partnership with the Chief Executive, Strategic Leadership Team and Elected Members.

Driven by a personal and professional commitment, the successful candidate will be at the forefront of leading on corporate objectives, transformation and change management programmes and will champion Aberdeenshire Council Priorities.

As an ambassador for the area there is responsibility for leading the establishment and maintenance of the overall Aberdeenshire Council Plan as well as individual service plans, including Children’s Services, which support the achievement of the Council’s objectives.

As an integrated service, Aberdeenshire Council’s Education and Children’s Services provide a wide range of services including:- schools, nurseries, cultural services, sport and leisure and community learning and development. We believe that learning should be a lifelong experience, and this is at the heart of the services we deliver.

  • To support the development of sustainable communities
  • To encourage a culture of continuous improvement that ensures that our service is high quality, efficient and responsive to people’s needs

Education and Children’s Services Policy Framework

As ambassador for Aberdeenshire core responsibility includes building solid working relationships with all of the Service’s stakeholders, including Elected Members, employees, parents, pupils, community and interested groups, further and higher education establishments and partner bodies such as Northern Alliance.
