Head Teacher – Dales Park Primary
We are looking for an inspirational Head Teacher to lead our team at Dales Park Primary School, Peterhead.
Dales Park is a fast-growing enhanced provision school with a current roll of 228 pupils, and an ELCC of 64 pupils. We are a welcoming school with a strong focus on providing a nurturing environment for pupils and families. Our enthusiastic and friendly pupils come from a wide demographic population and bring their own unique personalities to the school community. Our dedicated team of staff work hard to provide a supportive environment for all children, finding individual ways to meet pupil needs and planning and delivering exciting and engaging learning and teaching experiences. Staff support the children to develop skills for life whilst fostering positive relationships with their peers.
Our Staff
We have a diverse and multicultural staff who are dedicated to providing excellent experiences and a nurturing environment for all children. The Senior Leadership Team, Class Teacher, Additional Support for Learning (ASL) staff and Pupil Support Assistants all collaborate to create a positive ethos where children are encouraged and supported to reach their potential.
Parents
Our school has a dedicated Parent Council who are committed to supporting the school community by working hard to fundraise to provide a wide variety of experiences for our pupils. They organise and run the Christmas Fair, Summer Fair & Football Gala, along with school discos etc. throughout the year, all of which generate funds which are used to support the school. Parents also work hard to support the school through involvement in the daily life of the school.
Enhanced Provision
We have a committed team of ASL staff who work collaboratively with class teachers to support the needs of our pupils. Our Learning Centre offers support to pupils who require specific support in Literacy and Mathematics, as well as support to develop life skills to increase independence. Staff provide a multitude of opportunities for children to develop their confidence and self-esteem and in recent years the pupils accessing the Learning Centre have participated in both the John Muir award and the Grek Anne Frank Awards.
Staff work hard to develop individual strategies and pathways for pupils, allowing them to access the curriculum at their own level and pace, whilst ensuring that they are supported to reach their own potential, both academically and socially. Our Green Room staff, in conjunction with our Nurture Hub staff, work to support pupils in developing their social & emotional literacy, in order to develop positive peer relationships. They make regular use of the school allotment and sensory room as well as providing support for pupils in their mainstream classes.
Early Learning & Childcare Centre
We have a busy extended & enhanced provision ELCC which is led by an experienced and dedicated team who provide a nurturing and supportive environment for our children and their families. Staff promote curiosity, inquiry and creativity through play; offering children a variety of experiences in school and in the local area. In 2016, they were awarded the Pride of Buchan award following an excellent inspection and work hard to maintain their high standard of learning and care. They also work alongside Primary 1 staff to ensure effective transition between the ELCC and Primary 1. In August 2020, the ELCC will be moving to a state-of-the-art modern building with dedicated sensory room, free-flow indoor-outdoor play, and onsite community rooms.
Music
Dales Park has a strong musical presence, with a well-attended choir and a small, but dedicated, vocal group. Not only do these groups perform regularly at school fairs and concerts etc. they also provide opportunities for senior pupils to take on leadership roles, i.e. in organising fundraiser events such as our annual Musical Quiz night. These musical groups foster strong relationships across the year groups and develop confidence & self-esteem, as well as allowing pupils to show-case their talents.
Peterhead
Peterhead is a vibrant and close-knit fishing town on the North-East coast of Scotland. It has a rich history and strong community traditions as well as boasting stunning coastal scenery. Dales Park school welcomes children from a variety of cultural backgrounds and supports all pupils to celebrate their individual cultures, as well as embracing the culture of our local community.
