Live Life Well Aberdeenshire, Health Walk Leader

Live Life Aberdeenshire Health Walks (Scottish Health Walk Network Member) are looking for adult volunteers to support their weekly walk sessions from various sport and leisure centres across Aberdeenshire.

Health Walks are short (up to an hour), low-level, group walk sessions aimed at adults who want to, or need to, increase their activity levels. They are suitable for people living with long-term health conditions, in recovery from illness or injury, or at risk of isolation. Walk sessions often include some simple strength and balance exercises.

(We also have some buggy walks aimed at supporting social connections for parents/ grandparents or carers with young children).

What are we looking for?

We are looking for individuals who are reliable, with good communication skills and a positive, caring nature. This role is best suited to a ‘people person’. If you enjoy walking, would like to support others to enjoy the benefits of walking, and have a bit of time to spare we’d be delighted to hear from you.

What will I get?

• Full training to support your role (including the mandatory Paths for All walk leader training).
• Access to further training including:
Dementia friendly walk leader training.
Strength and Balance training for walk leaders.
• Full support and supervision in your role.
• Experience working with a range of different people in a community setting.
• Experience in a role which contributes to improved health and wellbeing for participants.
