Relief Early Years Practitioner

Our Early Years Practitioners (EYPs) have a wide and diverse range of experience and skills and aim to provide the best start for all children.  In order to ensure continuity of provision, we require Relief EYPs who are available to cover short term absence.  Relief EYPs must hold a recognised qualification in childcare and be eligible for SSSC registration.

As a relief EYP you will work in a nursery team to support children’s early learning and development.  Working together you can make a real difference to the quality of children’s lives and to their families.

What is relief work?

Working on a relief basis gives you flexibility and experience that suits your own circumstances.  The word relief means you will work on an ad hoc basis (up to 12 weeks) in any one nursery.

There are opportunities across Aberdeenshire School Networks for Relief EYPs in our towns and rural communities and in a range of settings.  There are various patterns of attendance for children attending school nurseries which include part time and full day.  You will find a variety of working hours available for you between the hours of 8am and 6pm.  Some of our nurseries also operate outwith term time.

You can choose the School Networks you wish to work in and will be contacted by the school when there is a requirement for cover within the Nursery, sometimes this can be at short notice.
