Rosehearty Primary School

Location, Location, Location

Rosehearty School is a non-denominational, mainstream school located just 5 miles west of Fraserburgh, situated on the North-East coast. The school was constructed under the P.P.P. scheme and opened in October 2005. The catchment area stretches across the villages of Rosehearty, New Aberdour and Pennan as well as outlying houses and farms. The school’s current roll is 187 in total which includes 36 pupils in Early Years.

Primary School

There are currently seven classes in Rosehearty School; two composite twin-sets in the lower school and three straight classes in the upper school.

Rosehearty School has a mix of full time and part time staff, including a probationary teacher. There is also an expressive arts teacher providing NCCT. The school leadership team comprises of a Head Teacher who is non class committed. The school is supported by an able team of Pupil Support Assistants, who work both in the classroom and in the wider school context (playground, lunch hall etc.) A Support for Learning teacher attends two days per week, shared amongst the cluster schools. The school also works closely with a range of other support agencies to provide the best possible experience for children with additional support needs. The children benefit from visiting instrumental staff who deliver lessons in both brass and strings.

We are all committed to providing the best learning experiences for our children, but most importantly making learning fun! We put our school values of Honesty, Endeavour, Achievement, Respect and Trust at the HEART of everything we do.

Early Learning and Childcare

The Nursery is administered by an Early Years Senior Practitioner and staffed by two Early Years Lead Practitioners and seven Early Years Practitioners. The Nursery operates full days, following the school term dates, allowing for 1140 hours of provision.

Community

As part of the Fraserburgh School cluster, the school serves a mix of both fishing and farming communities, as well as many oil and gas workers (both on and offshore.) The unique landscape of the community allows for strong links to local learning, with great opportunities to take the learning outdoors. School and education are valued by the community who support their school in so many ways. Children enjoy learning through a variety of contexts in Rosehearty School, with staff who are enthusiastic and excited about learning. Working with families ensures that both home and school strive for the best outcomes for our young people.

The school has local links with uniform groups such as the Boys Brigade and are fortunate that Active Schools are based in the school, so benefit from sporting /coaching opportunities.
