Teaching Salary

From starting as a probationary teacher, a career in teaching offers opportunities for career development and a competitive salary.

As a newly qualified teacher in the probationary year the salary currently starts at £30,081.  Once fully registered, salaries rise by annual increments over the first five years from £36,090 to £48,516. * We also offer a competitive Relocation Incentive Scheme of up to £8,000.

With the prospect of developing your career, Head teachers in Scotland’s largest schools can earn up to £94,644.*

Teachers starting within the school year will be subject to salary adjustments to reflect term dates worked.
